e-Service - 31 January 2021

Mexborough Baptist Church Sunday 31st January 2021   Have you noticed how much we've prayed as scattered church over the last 46 weeks? In our services and EXTRAs and extra EXTRAs. We've prayed for more people, we've been called to prayer and now we have our 12 noon Big Ben prayers. In our all-age family worship service today (the 5th Sunday in the month), we're going to be looking at some practical ways of praying together in our families. Before we do that, we're going to call each other to worship God as we sing ' Come on and Celebrate ' followed by ' What a faithful God ' (click on the links)      Did you notice that in the second song we were singing to God? Some of our hymns and songs are prayers set to music. This is nothing new, many of the Psalms in the Old Testament were prayers set to music. Let's read one of them - Psalm 8 - out loud together.   How great is your name, O Lord our God, through all the earth!   Your majesty is prais...

e-Service - 24 January 2021

Mexborough Baptist Church Sunday 24th January 2021   Welcome to you all wherever you are shining. When we met together in our church building on Sunday mornings, we often said that we were coming into the presence of God. That's no less true when we sit in our homes for our email service - we come into God's presence and the appropriate response is worship. Our first two songs lead us into worship of our holy God - ' Only A Holy God ' and ' Holy Holy Holy Lord God Almighty ' (click on the links)     Prayer    King of Kings, we love to sing praises to you. We rejoice in you, our maker. We exalt you, our King. We praise your name, for you delight in your people. We do not deserve to come into the presence of the Holy God of the Universe but you have crowned the humble with victory, you have lifted up those who are bowed down, you have clothed us in your righteousness. We come before you with confidence, not based on ourselves, but based on your love. Let...

e-Service - 17 January 2020

Mexborough Baptist Church Sunday 17th January 2021 In 2020 we were lifted up and strengthened by our prayers for each other; may this continue. Our service today is different to the usual format: it is a call to all of us - young and old - to pray. As we begin, here is a reminder about what prayer is click on the link     For the benefit of those who get the paper copy and can't see the videos, we are repeating some of what is contained in them. Prayer is: P raise R epent A sk Y ield (give in to what God wants)   Now listen to this click on the link     Bells always demand our attention - the bell on your alarm clock tells you it's time to get up, the fire alarm bell tells you it's time to get out, the school bell tells you it's time to stop playing and come in to learn or to move from one class to another, and the church bell tells you it's time to come in to worship. The most famous bell in the country - Big Ben - has been silent for some time for r...

Mexborough Baptist Church Sunday 10th  January 2021 As we begin our service, we can be encouraged that God is faithful, however we feel, whatever our week has been like and whatever this next week holds for us. You may like to get your bread and wine/juice ready now.  We're still in the season of Christmas and, as I'm preparing this service, it's snowing! A great opportunity at the beginning of the year to sing that lovely carol 'In the bleak midwinter' click on the link   Prayer Dear God, thank you for helping us to make it through the last difficult year.
