e-Service - 30 May 2021

Mexborough Baptist Church Sunday 30th May 2021 We welcome our friends of all ages as we come together for our family service. Lisa and I enjoyed planning this service on Zoom and we had lots of ideas around gardens and engaging our children in planting seeds and growing flowers. It's been interesting during the week to see how other people have been thinking similar things. God is wonderful, isn't he? And he is the one who started off the whole idea of planting and growing - you can read about this in the first book of the Bible: Genesis chapter 2:4-9 . An old favourite children's hymn celebrates God the creator and we sing it together - All Things Bright and Beautiful click on the link     Lisa says, "The sun is shining and we are hoping for a lovely, sunny, half-term as we approach our British Summertime. This week, we have planted flowers in our garden - two fuschia pyramids and a trough of Busy Lizzies. I love bright and happy flowers. One of the happiest flowers I...

e-Service - 16 May 2021

Mexborough Baptist Church Sunday 16th May 2021 We welcome everyone to the service today. On Thursday it was Ascension Day - 40 days after Easter when Jesus ascended (rose up) into heaven, 10 days before Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came down upon the first disciples in Jerusalem. We celebrate Easter and Pentecost but somehow, in the Free Church, Ascension Day is often overlooked. All our hymns today speak to us of Jesus and his ascension into heaven. We begin with 'Hail the Day That Sees Him Rise'  click on the link     We see Jesus,   crowned with glory and honour.   Jesus, for a little while, was made lower than the angels   and suffered death among men.   Because he suffered death,   God has crowned him with glory and honour.   God's living word of life was made flesh   and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth.   He alone, he the first of men to ascend into heaven,   was the first and only-begotten Son of God who h...

Mexborough Baptist Church Sunday 9th May 2021 Welcome to our 60th email service! Wow! God has been so faithful to us as we've worshipped together every week by email while we've been scattered because of the coronavirus pandemic. We're longing for the time when we can worship together again in person - and it's not too far away. Book this date in your diary - Sunday 27th June 2021 - and look out for more details in the EXTRA.   Call to worship   Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvellous deeds among all peoples. For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. Splendour and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his d...
