Mexborough Baptist Church Sunday 25th July 2021
We welcome everyone to our service today whether you're with us in person or by email at home or even on holiday, welcome. We begin our service with a responsive call to worship from Psalm 100:
Shout for joy to the Lord all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
We respond and sing together 'I love you Lord and I lift my voice' click on the link
Thank you to Cheryl who leads us in prayer....
Heavenly Father, there are so many words to describe who you are. Loving, compassionate, healer, faithful.
We thank and praise you because through the trials of the pandemic you have been all these things to so many people.
We thank you for the arms that have held the bereaved, showing your love and compassion.
For all the healing that has taken place in our hospitals, and for the ones who have sat by bedsides holding the hands of loved ones when families couldn’t be near.
We thank you, Father, that when situations have been so bad that people have suffered depression and anxiety and been in such a dark place that they have questioned where you are, in your faithfulness you have been walking alongside them, constantly longing to heal and restore them to yourself.
We pray, Father, that your light will shine into all the dark places caused by the pandemic all over the world and for all the positive things to come out of it - Love, Compassion, Kindness, Tolerance, A knowledge of what is important in our lives. We pray that all these will flourish and grow and that your loving kindness will inspire the future as we move forward. Amen.
God's loving kindness has kept us and held us together through these last 16 months and enabled us to shine his light at home, with our neighbours, on the phone or Zoom with families and friends, in our workplace - wherever we have been. We respond and sing 'Thy Loving Kindness' followed by "This Little Light Of Mine" click on the links
Our Stories
Elsie has been shopping this week and here she is reading stories in her brand-new Children's Bible ...
The Bible is full of stories of God touching the lives of ordinary people. God still today touches the lives of ordinary people like you and me. Pause and think back over the last 16 months - how has God touched your life? How has he touched the lives of others through you? What's your story?
Each of us has a story which is unique to us, a story which God takes and weaves into His Story, which encompasses the whole of history. God is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end (Revelation 22:13). 'This is my story, this is my song' is the chorus of that well-loved hymn 'Blessed Assurance' by Fanny Crosby click on the link
The children have made praise shakers in church today with Lisa...
They join us now in singing 'Let everything that has breath praise the Lord' click on the link
We conclude our service today by joining our hearts and voices together in the hymn 'Now thank we all our God' click on the link
Benediction
Loving God, we thank you for hearing our prayers, feeding us with your word and encouraging us in our meeting together, singing together and sharing stories together.
Take us and use us to love and serve you and all people in the power of your Spirit and in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
