e-Service - 28 November 2021

Mexborough Baptist Church Sunday 28th November 2021 First Sunday in Advent. Today's service in church is led by our Scout Group - 24th Doncaster (1st Mexborough) - and their leaders. We welcome their families, friends, visitors and regular attenders to our service for the first Sunday in Advent. The Scouts parade their colours into church as we sing ' O Come, O Come, Emmanuel ', which reminds us that advent is a time of waiting and preparation for the coming of our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.   click on the link     Let us share together in a Prayer For Advent  click on the link   The first Bible reading in Advent is Luke 1:5-25 - The Birth of John the Baptist Foretold....   In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. Mexborough Baptist Church Sunday 14th November 2021 Remembrance Sunday Photo from Royal British Legion Welcome to this service of Remembrance.  2021 marks 100 years since our nation’s collective Remembrance traditions were first brought together in the pattern we are all familiar with - the poppy, the two-minute silence, Armistice Day, the service for the Unknown Warrior, the march-past at the Cenotaph, and parades and services at war memorials in towns and villages all over the UK.  Our first hymn is a traditional remembrance hymn of gratitude to God for his help in the past and hope for our future - 'O God our help in ages past' click on the link  Prayer    Lord God, may this gathering, together with Remembrance Sunday thoughts and prayers everywhere, help move our world one step closer to the peace of your Kingdom. We come together today to remember with thanks those who have given their lives in service of others; to remember with sadness the su...

Mexborough Baptist Church Sunday 7th November 2021 This first week in November has been so beautiful. The skies lit up from firework displays but more lasting beauty than these have been the gorgeous blue sky, fluffy clouds and sunshine. As l was walking, taking this in, people in passing vehicles were oblivious to what was gloriously above them. I have quoted on many occasions the opening verses from Psalm 19 : 1 The heavens declare the glory of God;     the skies proclaim the work of his hands. 2 Day after day they pour forth speech;     night after night they reveal knowledge. 3 They have no speech, they use no words;     no sound is heard from them. 4 Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,     their words to the ends of the world. We take our part in declaring the glory of God as we sing two songs. The first ' All heaven declares ' is based on these verses from Psalm 19 and the second ' For the beauty of the earth ' takes us into oth...
