e-Service - 07 November 2021

Mexborough Baptist Church Sunday 7th November 2021

This first week in November has been so beautiful. The skies lit up from firework displays but more lasting beauty than these have been the gorgeous blue sky, fluffy clouds and sunshine. As l was walking, taking this in, people in passing vehicles were oblivious to what was gloriously above them. I have quoted on many occasions the opening verses from Psalm 19:
1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
    the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
    night after night they reveal knowledge.
3 They have no speech, they use no words;
    no sound is heard from them.
4 Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
    their words to the ends of the world.

We take our part in declaring the glory of God as we sing two songs. The first 'All heaven declares' is based on these verses from Psalm 19 and the second 'For the beauty of the earth' takes us into other areas of God's great goodness towards us. click on the links

Prayer
Dear Father in heaven, Mighty God in heaven and on earth, quicken us by the Word you have sent and by all you have done for us in your mercy and steadfast love. Keep us eager and joyful even in difficult and troubled days. Grant us unfailing trust in you, to give us firm ground under our feet so that we can always thank and glorify you. For you, O Lord, are our God. You are our Father, and you will never forsake your children in all eternity. Amen.

Trevor and Enid are leading the service in church today and extend a warm welcome to everyone. Wherever you may be and whatever time it is, may you know the overwhelmìng peace and joy that God in his love freely offers to us through his Son Jesus. We respond in words from Psalm 89....

I will sing for ever of your love, O Lord,
my lips shall proclaim your faithfulness.
The heavens bear witness to your wonders;
I will sing for ever of your love, O Lord.
The assembly of your saints proclaims your truth;
my lips shall proclaim your faithfulness.
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne;
steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.
I will sing for ever of your love, O Lord,
my lips shall proclaim your faithfulness.

We end our short time together as we sing 'God Is Love, His The Care' click on the link

Blessing
Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you. Amen.
Philippians 4:8-9, New Revised Standard Version

PLEASE NOTE

Next Sunday we will be having a service of Remembrance in church at 10.30 a.m. There will also be services at the cenotaphs...
